E-Cigarette Safety Tips

1. When charging your batteries make sure they are in a safe area that is fire proof such as metal top counter or area and are not left unattended, if you are headed out the door your batteries are still charging make sure that before you leave to unplug the device or battery charger from the outlet.

2. When using rebuildables make sure that you are educated about what you are doing before you attempt to use them or build the coil yourself. Making sure the coil is at the right ohm is imperative to having a good vape as well as being safe with your device. Have someone show you how to make the coil and give you an ohm/wattage/volts chart before you start using rebuildables.

3. When using a mechanical mod or variable voltage mod be sure that the device has the proper ventilation for the battery. If the mod does not have the proper ventilation the battery can over heat very easily because of the lack of air flow. If you are using an ego twist or ego battery, a device that has an internal battery, but does not have any ventilation,  make sure to spread out your time when you are using the device so that the internal battery does not overheat.

4. If the part of your device where your coil sits is getting hot you may be burning up your coil too much and you might need to set it down for a little while before coming back to it again. You can also try to turn the voltage or wattage down because that may be part of the problem as well.

5. When buying batteries make sure you get high drain batteries they are much safer to use and they will last longer, also make sure that they are made by a trusted company like AW, Sony, or E-fest.

6. VV/VW devices have protection built in, but if you’re using a mechanical e-cig mod, the best advice is to fit a safety fuse and ensure you know the batteries limits.

There is a danger inherent in every mechanical mod – the battery. Batteries can fail, due to over-tightening the end-caps of the mod or atomizer. They can also over-discharge due to accidentally pressing the firing pin/button for too long, causing the battery to overheat and potentially burst.

Never buy a mechanical mod without seeing it first. And by that, I mean you need to be able to get your hands on the mod before purchasing it. Think of it this way, just because your moms Ford Fusion is amazing, it doesn’t mean the one you’re buying won’t be free from defects either. Mods, though considerably less expensive than a car, should be treated the same way. If possible, inspect before you buy – or at the very least, before you use it for the first time.

7. Make sure that on any device that you buy there is a lock for the firing button.

8. Make sure your batteries aren’t overcharged or undercharged by checking their volts. Run them too low repeatedly and they have shortened life, way too low and they are toast.

9. If you have a device like the Vamo V3 or an Evic DO NOT put two 18350’s in the device they have the potential to overheat and go KABOOM! If you have a device like this make sure you buy an 18650 battery in there.

10. Never use a damaged battery or one that isn’t protected.

11. Batteries all have a C Rating. Don’t use batteries with a C Rating below 2 amps (2,000mAh) as they ARE NOT up to the job.

12. Always use the correct charger for the device, make sure that the charger that came with the device is used for the device only.

13.  Make sure you keep the area where the batteries are charging cool and dry, there is nothing more dangerous than having water or some other drink spill over you electrical device.

14.  Use an AC adapter. By using a wall outlet rather than a laptop or desktop computer or some other device you won’t have two devices that have the potential of overheating. You don’t want a chain reaction if one starts to overheat.

15. If you are using an ego device or some other battery that needs to be screwed in to the charger port make sure you never screw it in too tight, there will not be enough air flow and that can cause a huge mess you do not want.

Anything that uses electricity has the potential to over heat that is why it is extremely essential to follow the tips above, they might just save your life some day.
