Evidence Increases To Show E-Cigarettes Help People Quit Smoking

As a legitimate source of news and resources, it’s common we have to report flip-flopped stories on new studies results based on the findings of Electronic Cigarettes. The first study we reported on found that E-Cigarettes were useless for quitting and did not look specifically at those who were actually trying to stop smoking, while the mot recent study did.

Vaping News - Vapor AwarenressThe latest study surveyed 5,863 smokers between  2009 and 2014 who had had serious attempts to quit over the past year using either E-Cigarettes or over-the-couter cessation aids such s nicotine patches, gum or lozenges, or nothign at all to help them quit. The study found that E-Cigarette users were  60% more likely to have been successfully in their quitting efforts compared to those in the other two groups. The researchers took into account income level, nicotine dependence, and other differences between those who used E-Cigarettes and those who didn’t.

“This was a real-world observational study to see who well E-Cigarettes work when used specifically to help stop smoking,” said study author Dr. Jamie Brown, a senior research associate at the University of London.

“The trade-ff is we cannot definitively rule out that an unmeasured factor may have influenced the result.” D.K.
