Knox County Jail Will Be Selling E-Cigarettes
Inmates at the Knox County, Illinois jail may soon be able to buy electronic cigarettes.
The Knox County sheriff told the county board members on Monday that he has found a vendor that has designed e-cigarettes that are safe for inmates. The e-cigarettes can’t be broken down and turned into weapons. The Register-Mail in Galesburg, Illinois reports that Sheriff David Clague says he’ll number each e-cigarette and inmates will have to return them when they’re done.
The sheriff says he hopes offering e-cigarettes will help stop inmates from smuggling in real cigarettes.
The e-cigarettes would sell for $14 and cost the jail $7 to purchase from the supplier.
