Dry Hits Are The Worst

We’re just gonna say it: DRY HITS ARE THE WORST! If you’ve ever experienced them, you know exactly what me mean.

Perhaps you’re in a situation where you really need to vape because stealth vaping just wasn’t an option, so you pull out your device and start to vape, vape, vape away. You start noticing that your vape tastes a little burnt, when suddenly…..BAM! An uber intense, hot and nasty hit!

What you’ve just experienced is a “dry hit” – the bane of vaper’s everywhere.

Generally, the cause of a dry hit is liquid not working properly or the heating coil burning through liquid too quickly. As a result, you end up getting a mouthful of hot air from the overheated coil, or worse, smoke from the gunk being roasted off the coil.

Bottom-coil clearomizer tanks are specifically designed to protect against dry hits and are better at keeping the coil saturated, but you can still occasionally get dry hits form them.

How To Avoid Dry Hits

It is impossible to get rid of dry hits permanently – at least not yet. However, there are several ways you can reduce your chances of enduring an unpleasant dry hit.

For starters, keeping your heating coil moist is key. It’s simple really: if your coil is wet at all times, you won’t get dry hits -ever. To prevent starving the coil of e-liquid, you should avoid over-vaping, chain vaping, power vaping and vaping with too much voltage.

If you are experiencing regular dry hits, your first step should be to turn down the voltage. Next, consider taking longer, slower drags and give your device a rest between vape sessions. Some users have also had luck preventing dry hits by taking an occasional primer puff (without activating the battery) to force more liquid into the atomizer chamber.

Lastly, if the problem persists and you continue getting dry hits, then you might consider adjusting the amount of VG in your e-liquid. E-liquid that contains a high concentration of VG, or vegetable glycerin, is thick, which means it can take longer for the wick to absorb.

Fortunately, this problem can easily be resolved by either turning down your voltage/wattage or lowering the percentage of VG in your e-liquid through either dilution or upping the PG ratio. PG is a thinner substance and absorbed by your device’s wick quicker.

Upgrade Your Vaping Experience

Of course, none of these strategies for preventing dry hits will work if you’re using a poorly-made product.

Sounds like it’s time to up your vaping game and minimize (if not eliminate) those pesky dry hits by switching to a more serious pro ass device.
